PRIDE TRAINING

What is PRIDE?

Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education (PRIDE) is a government mandated training program to prepare adoptive and foster families for their role as parents. As of December 31st, 2007 all families in Ontario who plan to adopt must take this training.

PRIDE was developed in Illinois in 1993 and is designed to strengthen the quality of foster care and adoption services by providing a standardized, structured framework for recruiting, preparing and selecting foster and adoptive parents.

PRIDE is a 30 hour course and will be offered by Ottawa Adoption Connections at regular intervals beginning in 2008.

Notes:

A light supper will be provided Friday evening. Muffins, coffee and tea will be served in the mornings and coffee and tea will be available for the breaks.




Short Bio:

Mary Adele Blair has been a Private Adoption Practitioner for 23 years. She has a Master of Social Work degree and 3 grown adopted children.

Teresa Jarosz has been a social worker for 17 years, is a Private Adoption Practitioner and has two adopted daughters from China. .
